Congressman Gary Palmer Speaks at Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce was so glad to have Congressman Gary Palmer with us last week! Thank you for the 'shout out,' Congressman Palmer!

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce had the honor of hosting Congressman Gary Palmer at its monthly luncheon on Thursday, June 20. The luncheon was held at First Baptist Church Leeds.
In 2014, Palmer was elected to the 114th Congress, having never served in office before. In Congress, Palmer is focused on the following issues, and he shared updates on some of them.

  • paying down the national debt by cutting spending;
  • regulatory reform by reducing the number and expense of federal regulations;
  • lowering energy costs and spurring economic growth and job creation by accessing America’s vast energy resources;
  • replacing Obamacare with a health care plan that puts people back in charge of their health care decisions and that will truly make health care affordable and available; and
  • protecting life in all its forms.

The luncheon was sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America. Next month’s luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, July 18. Please note that the luncheon will be at a different location: Leeds First Methodist Church.

Blessing Box | The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany

Community Outreach. We’re known around the community as the church with the big red box. This is our blessing box. The blessing box is where all may be blessed, those that have needs and those who have something to share. The church fills it, our members fill it, and the community fills it. There are no restrictions on who may take food from the box. Anyone who is hungry is welcome. Our only request is that those who need food take just enough for a day or two and leave some for others. In addition to the blessing box, have a free library. Leave a book. Take a book. (Children’s books are very popular.) As part of our food ministry, Epiphany also supports Leeds Outreach. Because some of our members encouraged us, we also support The Wellhouse and The Lovelady Center, and other charities that speak to any of our members from time to time.

Leeds Outreach

Leeds Outreach is a 501c3 Christian non-profit organization operated solely by volunteers. We have no paid staff. If you have a heart for people and are looking for a place to volunteer, Leeds Outreach is a worthy cause and we invite you to partner with us to meet the needs of those who are less fortunate, hurting or going through a hard time and just need a hand-up. We have a variety of volunteer positions and invite you to take a closer look to see if Leeds Outreach would be a good fit for you, your skills and your schedule. We have positions Monday-Thursday mornings. You may text or leave a message at 205-352-7691 and we will contact you when we are available. You may also EMAIL us at leedsoutreach@gmail.com.
