Leeds Historical Society
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello at the Multi-Year Reunion! We had yearbooks available for browsing, from school years 1953-1983. One of our Leeds Historical Society goals is to collect yearbooks. We want there to be at least four complete sets disseminated around Jefferson County libraries and one to be used to scan and have available for online research sites If you have old yearbooks (from Leeds High or Moton High School) and wish to donate them, please give us a call at 205-571-1812. We would love to have them for historical research purposes.
Leeds Primary School
In an effort to make our community better, we have made some changes to our carline. Please look at the attached graphic prior to school opening this week. Also please follow all signs, police, and volunteers as we help everyone learn our new traffic patterns. All cars will drop off in the back of the school. Buses will drop off in the front of the school. Please note all stop signs! If you arrive after the carline has closed, you will be directed to park and you must walk your child to the office and sign them in. The car line is open from 7:15-7:45 each morning. No one should exit their vehicle during carline. Please Park if you need assistance. Students should exit the vehicle from the passenger side only. Please work with your students on unbuckling and being ready to exit when you reach the unloading zone. Please finish all breakfast and give hugs and kisses prior to the unloading zone to help keep our lines moving efficiently. Afternoon carline for both Pre-K and K-1 will pick up in the back of the school. After school care will pick up in the back of the school. Before school care will walk their students to the gym in the front. Absolutely no students should be dropped off in the front parking lot. All late students must be accompanied by an adult. The handicap parking is for our students with needs and should not be used by anyone without a permit. Lastly, the center lane(yellow) is only for buses and employees who will merge just before the LPS sign. Please allow them to merge. Leeds Senior Services
Leeds Senior Services: Our Senior Citizens are a very important part of Leeds, Alabama. We invite you to check out all of the opportunities to plug into what's happening in our community. The Leeds Senior Center is open Monday through Thursday to provide activities and a lunch meal for our senior residents. Our senior center was recently renovated and expanded and we are very excited about the activities our seniors are currently being offered plus we are continuing to open and expand our senior services. Leeds Senior Center is located in the Leeds Civic Center at 1000 Park Drive, Leeds, Alabama 35094. For more information, please call 205-699-0910. Note: Leeds Senior Center is open to anyone who is 60 years old or older. If you are a first timer coming to the center, we encourage you to call ahead so we may properly plan food and activity supplies. The City of Leeds is proud of its senior center and program. The city has invested in senior center upgrades to improve services to the public during Miller's tenure. "Leeds has spent over $100k renovating the facility and, even more importantly, a full-time professional director, Audrey Bryan, was hired. She came in, turned that program on its head, and has increased the senior participation from 28 members to around 100 today. Seniors are coming regularly and they're enjoying it. An exercise program and all types of activities are available so anyone who may be a little older should come and enjoy them. Food Truck Monday
The next scheduled Food Truck is Monday, August 12 with A Dab of This and a Dab of That! Leeds Food Truck Mondays are hosted by Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce in historic downtown Leeds from 11 am to 2 pm at the corner of 8th Street & Parkway Drive at the concrete parking lot across from the library and Regions Bank. This will be our last regular Food Truck Monday scheduled for the summer other than occasional scheduling.

Meal Sponsors Needed | Leeds Band Boosters
The Leeds High School Band Boosters has approximately 50% of their meals sponsored for the band. This non-profit organization will need 10 meals to cover the regular football and competition season and we are still looking for sponsors.
We provide drinks, an entree, dessert and a side for 120 people for every game and competition. It is important to feed our band students before away games and competitions. Band students go directly from school to away game preparations so they do not go home and eat. Band Boosters feed them so they have fuel for the game. For competitions, band students have a long day of practice, travel, and performance so these students must have fuel to represent Leeds well. Meal sponsors are also needed for away games during the playoffs, but we don't have those dates yet.
Meals may be sponsored by providing money (and the Band Boosters will order and prepare the meal) or by bringing the meal to the band. More than one person, business, or group can sponsor a meal to share the cost. Sponsors are publicly thanked on our Facebook page and the Band app (for band parents and students).
