Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Hosts 2022 Awards Celebration
Over 80 people gathered on Thursday for the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce 2022 Awards Celebration at Leeds First Methodist Church. Katering 101 catered a delicious lunch and select community leaders were recognized for their outstanding performance with award presentations. The following awards were presented:

LPD Shop with a Cop was an Awesome Event
Shop with a Cop was outstanding! Leeds Police Department got to spend some quality time with children from our city, build relationships and wish them a Merry Christmas!!! After the shopping endeavor, everyone had a nice lunch at Mango's Cantina & Grill. Thank you to our wonderful officers for their assistance in making this another special event, Sandra McGuire, Walmart and Woodman of the World. too!
Leeds Fire & Rescue Escort Santa Around Town
Beginning on Sunday, Santa began making personal visits in each neighbor compliments of Leeds Fire Department. Santa rode on the new fire truck, weather permitting, each night this week through Leeds neighborhoods throwing out candy to the kids. It was a welcome sight to see Santa make these last minute trips in anticipation of a wonderful Christmas Eve when he will be visiting each home to make each child's wish come true with what he or she wants for Christmas!
The Leeds Mural is Near Completion
The Leeds Mural is nearing completion on the concrete wall at the new parking lot across from Regions Bank and Leeds Jane Culbreth Library. According to Scott Harvey, the Artist: The old steam train will be painted on the right. The small trees in front and behind the stage coach are cedar saplings symbolizing growth and the old name of our town Cedar Grove. The stage coach represents the historic stage coach rout that ran through Leeds. The feather to the left of Est. represents the Indians who took part in trade, and helping develop the foundation of Leeds. There will be a small wave to the right of 1887 representing the home of the green wave. Lots of history in our town to be proud of.

2022 Lacy Smith Student of the Year Award at The Red Barn
The Lacy Smith Student of the Year award is given each year to a girl student at The Red Barn. This year’s winner of the 2022 Lacy Smith Student of the Year award is Tori Barnes. She has been riding since 2015! The barn is her favorite place in the world and she is quick to tell people how much it means to her. She has been really trying and progressing the last year, and we are extremely proud of all her hard work. She is a kind soul and one of the friendliest students we have ever served.
The Reid Picket Student of the Year Award at The Red Barn
The Reid Picket Student of the Year Award is given each year to a boy student at The Red Barn. The winner of the 2022 Reid Pickett Student of the Year Award is Isaiah Robinson! He has been participating in programs since 2016, has shown incredible dedication, and never misses a lesson. He has been working so hard in his riding and continues to make improvements every lesson, such as maintaining an effective position with fewer prompts and being able to post more steps.
