It's Officially National Leap of Kindness Day!!!
Celebrate an Extra Day This Year and Do Something Kind
Leap of Kindness Day has been the topic of conversation for over six weeks now with the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce campaign for National Leap of Kindness Day and Leeds Mayor David Miller presenting a proclamation to the Chamber declaring Leap Day, February 29, 2024 as Leap of Kindness Day in the City of Leeds. Businesses and individuals have joined this kindness movement to decide what act of kindness or kindness project they would undertake in honor of this campaign.
With today being Leap Day, we are seeing people all over Leeds busy choosing a project and completing it. We hope that you are choosing to join the kindness movement and do something kind today. We can never have too much kindness in our city and we challenge you to be extra kind today!!!

Arbor Day Tree Event Gave Away over 250 Trees
Jefferson County & City of Leeds Arbor Day Celebration Tree Giveaway at The Shops of Grand River on February 17 was a huge success. Approximately 250-300 trees were given away. A variety of bare root seedlings were available including Tulip-Poplar, Red Maple, Sassafras, Elderberry, Pin Oak, American Hornbeam, Crabapple, White Dogwood, Red Bud, Persimmon, Bald Cyprus and Scarlet Oak. The Leeds Tree Commission works with a variety of entities to bring this wonderful event each year to celebrate Arbor Day. This event is hosted by Leeds Tree Commission, Alabama Forestry Commission, Jefferson County Conservation District and The Shops of Grand River.

Leeds Memorial Park News
CAUTION AT LARGE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT LEEDS MEMORIAL PARK: The City of Leeds is aware of a needed repair on the large playground equipment. One of the tube slides has a hole in it so that slide is temporarily blocked off. Public Works is aware of the needed repair and parts are being ordered to make the necessary playground repairs. Thank you for your due diligence in exercising caution on the playground equipment during this time.
New Urgent Care Center Coming to Leeds
Fastpace Health Urgent Care will be opening soon with a ribbon cutting set for 9 am on March 26! FastPace Health is opening a New Walk-In Urgent Care Clinic at 1455 Ashville Road Northeast, Leeds, AL. This convenient FastPace Health location will be open seven days a week with extended weekday and weekend hours for current residents and surrounding Jefferson, Shelby, and St Clair, County communities. The clinic will feature multiple exam rooms, an on-site lab, COVID-19 testing, and x-ray capabilities. This year marked a significant transition for our Business Management and Administration student organization as it moved from FBLA to DECA, embarking on a journey that exceeded our expectations. Despite being a first-year chapter, our students achievements have been remarkable and wide-ranging. Leeds Historic Downtown Walking Tour 2024 Celebrating the City of Leeds in the Year 1940 - Walk the Story of Our Past - Explore Landmarks Celebrating People, Places & History of Leeds, Alabama
With approximately six weeks left in the planning and organizing process for the Leeds Downtown Walking Tour set for Saturday, April 13 with a rain date of April 27, Leeds Trails and Tours teams are in full swing. Actors and reenactors are being cast, wardrobes/costumes and props are being searched out, historic research is unbelievable and you are seeing more publicity on social media.
There will be approximately 30 historical stations with up to 80 actors in full costume portraying familiar people of Leeds who were here in 1940. There are a number of reenactor positions that still need to be filled and volunteers are still needed in various teams. If you have an interest in being a part of this exciting endeavor, please contact the team at leedstrailsandtours@gmail.com.

Leeds Creek Bank Festival will celebrate 29 years this year and the festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, with a rain date of May 25 at Leeds Memorial Park hosted by Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Leeds, Alabama. Vendor applications are pouring in and plans are underway for another fabulous festival. Please note that Dona Bonnett and adr Business & Marketing Strategies will be collecting eyeglasses through March 31, 2024 so there’s plenty of time to schedule a pickup and Leeds Lions Club accepts reading glasses as well as prescription glasses.
This is a great way to recycle those eyeglasses that you no longer need.
