City of Leeds Announces 2025 Paving Project

The City of Leeds is proud to announce the commencement of its 2025 Paving Project, scheduled to begin later this week. This year’s extensive resurfacing initiative will cover approximately 20 full or partial streets, with a total capital expenditure of $1.1 million and utilizing over 7 tons of asphalt materials to enhance infrastructure across the community.

The 2025 Paving Project will address the following streets: Diane Street, Laura Street, Edwards Street (ALL), Jackson Avenue to Railroad, Alabama (ALL), Washington (ALL), Charles Barkley (ALL), Michigan Street, Illinois Street, Cogbill Street, Leaf Avenue, Intersection Ivy / Vine, Whittiker Place, Intersection Bethel / Veasy, Veasey Avenue, Cedar Springs Circle, Louis Street, Margaret Street, Railroad Avenue and Parkway Alley.

With a total investment of $1,128,995, the City of Leeds continues its commitment to maintaining and improving local roadways for the safety and convenience of all residents and visitors.

Mayor David Miller emphasized the importance of this project, stating, "We are proud to acknowledge that our administration has paved more miles of roadway than any in Leeds’ history. Investing in our infrastructure is essential to keeping Leeds a thriving and accessible community. These improvements will enhance road conditions and safety for all residents, and we appreciate everyone's patience as we complete this necessary work."

Motorists are urged to proceed with patience and caution in these areas as city workers diligently carry out these much-needed improvements. Traffic delays may occur, and residents should plan accordingly.

For more information or updates on the 2025 Paving Project, please visit the City of Leeds website at Paving Map or follow on social media and the “Ask Leeds” official city communication channel.

This Week's Recipe

Mardi Gras King Cake | allrecipes.com

Mardi Gras King Cake - King cake is a New Orleans tradition that involves sweet cinnamon dough, a tiny plastic baby, and a party! The cake is baked with a tiny plastic baby hidden inside; whoever gets the slice with the baby in it has to host the next party. Sprinkle with purple, green, and gold sugar, or decorate with whole pecans and candied cherries.
