Leeds Happenings this Week!

The Place to Go to Be in the Know

Check Out this Week's Leeds Happenings

This week is Universal Letter Writing Week!  Letter writing has almost become a lost art.  We're all so busy and our world works through email, text messages and social media.  Wouldn't it be great if the people of Leeds took a moment this week to actually write a letter to someone special and mail it? Whether you write a family member, a person that might have influenced your life or a business to tell them what their contribution to Leeds means to you, talk about changing your world! It's a great way to make a difference in someone's life to drop a line and make them feel special. It only takes a few moments and yes, the post office still sells stamps!

Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly news at Everyone Leeds. We hope the information brought to you is beneficial and uplifting. Building community and getting Leeds news out is our goal. Be sure to send us your news and always remember to...

Shop Leeds. Dine Leeds. Live Leeds. Entertain Leeds.

My Story Town had a crowd of kiddos this week with Leeds Jane Culbreth Library patrons, primary pupils and a pretty penguin at Leeds Primary School.

“We had a GREAT time at Leeds Primary School Library today for My Story Town! We heard the school librarian, Jennifer Wehrwein read the funny story, “Tacky the Penguin”.  Next, Mr. Randy Ray of the Leeds Historical Society, told us about how the Birmingham Library provided the first library in Leeds as a Book Mobile. We learned that Leeds library has moved to several locations before moving to where it is now.

Later, the children were given the opportunity to move around the library to visit five stations: polar animals sensory tub, penguin page coloring station, a Lego and magnetic shapes station to build something to hold the penguins, and a tub of book buddies and books about penguins.
On behalf of the Leeds Jane Culbreth Library, we want to give a big thank you to LPS Librarian, Jennifer Wehrwein, LPS Principal Mr. Porter, the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, Everyone Leeds, Leeds Redevelopment Authority and Leeds Historical Society. Thank you for loving the City of Leeds and for your desire to create an opportunity to educate, invest in and build a community program for the children and citizens of Leeds, AL. “ ~Annette McGuire, Leeds Jane Culbreth Library Programs & Events Coordinator

My Story Town is a program of Leeds Jane Culbreth Library in celebration of their 100th birthday this year. Children & adults gather the second Tuesday of each month at a different location to learn more about local businesses, organizations and people of Leeds. The next My Story Town is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14.

Visit www.LeedsLibrary.com for more information about this and other library programs.

January is School Board Recognition Month

LCS Board January 2023_600

"January is School Board Recognition Month in Alabama, and count me beyond fortunate to claim these fine folks right here as my school board. A retired superintendent told me one time that a school system can never rise above its leadership—y’all, we have no ceiling with these board members. One of the many reasons I love being a Greenie is right here." `John Moore, LCS Superintendent

L-R: Aaron Moyana, Scott Sisk, Jeff Hudson, Kathy Dutton and Chad Anderson

Leeds Jane Culbreth Library is Counting to 100

Leeds Wrestling Booster Club Fundraiser:

We hope this email finds everyone well in the New Year! This letter is to inform you that wrestling season is in full swing here in Leeds and we have a team who has worked hard to achieve so much already this year. With that being said, we are gearing up for our annual Matt Tice Memorial Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Leeds High School and are looking for donations. We are excited to be hosting over 25 teams with 300 wrestlers! Both male and female teams will be competing this year. With your donation, we are happy to hang a banner if your business has one in the gym to promote your business. Any donations will go a long way in showing everyone that our program is growing and that we are lucky to have such great community support. There are two ways to make a contribution to Leeds Wrestling. You can stop by Millennial Bank and make a deposit or you can send your donation through Venmo using the account name @leedswrestlingclub. If you have any questions, you may reach Bobbie Brasher (bobbie@brasher.us) or Leah Pendergrass (leah.pendergrass@gmail.com). We thank you so much for your time and consideration in this matter.
