New Exhibit: Terminal Station – Birmingham’s Great Temple of Travel
The Leeds Historical Society, in partnership with the Mid-South Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society and the City of Leeds, is proud to unveil a captivating new permanent exhibit:
Terminal Station: Birmingham’s Great Temple of Travel
This stunning display explores the architectural grandeur and historical significance of Birmingham’s legendary Terminal Station. It will be permanently housed in the Agent’s Office and exhibit room at the Historic Leeds Depot, subleased by the Mid-South Chapter from the Leeds Historical Society.
The Historic Leeds Depot is owned and maintained by the City of Leeds and leased to the Leeds Historical Society for public programming and historical interpretation.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony & Grant Recognition

Join us for a special ribbon-cutting preview of the exhibit, followed by a presentation of major grant funding to support preservation efforts at the J.W. Bass House, home of the Leeds Historical Society Museum.

What a Great Turnout at the Sonic Leeds Grand Re-Opening!
A fantastic crowd gathered on Tuesday, July 29 to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening & Ribbon Cutting at Sonic Leeds! Mayor David Miller led the official ribbon cutting at 11:00 AM, joined by Chamber Board Members, local business professionals, and the incredible Sonic team — including their new General Manager.
Guests enjoyed all-day happy hour, took a spin at the prize wheel, and celebrated a year of new ownership, new management, and a bold new look for this beloved local favorite. Thank you to everyone who came out to support and make this event a huge success! 💙🍔🥤

It's hard to believe we are so close to the first day of school! Here are the LCS Events you need to know! Reminder: Leeds Primary School has a staggered start for the first two days of school. Students with last names that begin with A-K will come for their first day on August 7th. Students with last names that begin with L-Z will come for their first day on August 8th. Everyone will come on Monday, August 11th.

BINGO is this Friday, August 1st at Leeds Civic Center. Doors open at 5 pm. Games start at 6 pm. Bring an additional friend (not someone who always comes with you) and receive a free bingo card. Cards are 3 for $20. Each additional card is $5. We play 6 games with a 15-minute break after game three when we do a slew of door prizes and the 60/40 drawing. Good morning! Some parents have asked how to register for Elf Jr, our Fall Musical Mondays show. You can go to leedsartscouncil.org/store. Click the classes link. You will see a link for Elf and Frozen, which is the Winter semester show. Classes begin on August 11th! After winter break, we will resume classes and travel to Arundale and experience Frozen Jr with Elsa and friends! Classes begin on January 5th. Our goal at Leeds Arts Council is to make theatre accessible to all students. Our Public Works team is working hard to clean up our city after all the recent storms! 
With everyone tidying up their yards, there’s been a BIG increase in bulk waste. To make sure every neighborhood gets serviced, we must adhere to the 3 cubic yard limit on bulk waste pickups. If your entire pile wasn’t collected, it may be because it was over the 3 cubic yard limit. This rule helps us complete routes quickly and fairly for everyone.
