The Holiday Bicycle Parade & Family Movie Night Events Were a Huge Success
On Friday, July 1st, the community of Leeds met at Leeds Memorial Park to participate in a 4th of July bicycle parade. Approximately 120 parents and children participated with their decorated bikes, tricycles, skateboards, scooters, wagons, strollers, or their comfy shoes to make a parade lap around the walking track. Patriotic marching music played while local firefighters, volunteers and onlookers cheered everyone on as children zoomed by. Police Chief Erwin walked in the parade and handed out gold sticker badges to the kids. Clifford the little brown dog and Nico the black doggie joined the parade and trotted happily around the track. Fire Chief Parsons and firefighters were on standby for any first aid needs and kids had their photos made on the fire engine. The parade festivities concluded with 10 prize giveaways and an invitation to join everyone downtown for the second 1st Friday Family Movie Night. Another large crowd gathered in the concrete parking lot on the corner of Parkway Drive and 8th Street to watch Sing 2 enjoying the outdoors with their families and plenty of food, popcorn and shaved ice. These free events were sponsored by the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, Leeds Redevelopment Authority and Leeds Jane Culbreth Library. The last outdoor movie of the summer is scheduled for Friday, August 5th so mark your calendars and more information will be coming soon!

This Week's Recipe
Southwest Spaghetti
This dish gives a new meaning to the phrase Spaghetti Western! Southwest Spaghetti infuses traditional Italian marinara with the heat and smokiness of spices straight from the blazing plains. Yet it retains the tender pasta, bright tomato flavor, and juicy beef, plus some zucchini for a touch of garden freshness. Southwest Spaghetti blazes new trails in fusion cuisine, and your taste buds will be itching to put on their spurs!
