The Place to Go to Be in the Know

Check Out this Week's Leeds Happenings

Summer is definitely here and we are in the middle of a huge heat wave!  Be sure to check your air conditioning filters and keep a check on the elderly as well as any outdoor pets.  Drink plenty of water, stay hydrated and don't overdo it.  Most of all, please be careful when spending a lot of time out in this heat.  Know the signs of heat exhaustion.  According to the CDC, symptoms of heat exhaustion include:  Headache, Nausea, Dizziness, Weakness, Irritability, Thirst, Heavy sweating, Elevated body temperature. For more information about this subject or signs of a heat stroke, please visit https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/heatstress/heatrelillness.html

As always, there's no shortage of things to do so please be sure to check out our upcoming events, shopping opportunities and more.  One exciting event mentioned on this thread is our first-ever community Holiday Bicycle Parade along with the next 1st Friday Family Movie Night to kick off the July 4th holiday weekend so be sure to mark your calendars for a great time together.

Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there.  Have a great weekend and always, remember to think Leeds first!

Matilda the Musical Jr. | 7pm | Leeds Art Council

Matilda is Roald Dahl’s gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and inspires children will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Matilda has wit, intelligence, AND special powers. She is unloved by her parents but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. However, her school life isn’t smooth sailing; the school’s headmistress hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda’s courage and cleverness could be the school pupils’ saving grace. You will be delighted by the story of a special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
