Leeds Senior Citizens Program Celebrates One Year Re-Opening Anniversary
Leeds Senior Center reopened on June 9, 2021, after being closed due to COVID for over a year. Seniors were delighted to see the renovation that had taken place during the time closed. Now, this group is celebrating their “one year re-opening anniversary!” During this past year, these seniors have exercised, played an infinite number of games of dominos, visited the Vulcan, eaten lunch including dessert, painted masterpieces, exercised some more, seen Three on A String, participated in the Leeds Christmas parade, learned (and are still learning) to line dance, seen the Steel Magnolias play, even more exercise, enjoyed numerous lunches together including dessert, made fall and Christmas decorations, took pottery lessons at Earthborn Pottery, played Sequence, hosted Dolores Hydock (a great storyteller), been impressed by the Leeds Jump Rope Team, exercised even more, shared pictures of our sweethearts and sweet memories, celebrated birthdays, participated in Bible Studies, been treated to a fish fry by the Leeds Fire Department, shared countless stories about the way things used to be, met and made new friends, and have they mentioned exercise plus all of the wonderful meals they’ve had together? These seniors had a fabulous time with a shrimp boil for their recent June birthday celebration! The Center will be closed for the July 4 holiday. This Week's Recipe
Marinated Cucumber & Tomato Salad
This marinated salad is such a healthy way to enjoy those fresh summer veggies and can be easily customized. Try adding in some fresh herbs or feta cheese for a little added flavor. You can also swap in seasoned pepper, which is amped up with additional seasonings, in place of the plain ground pepper for an additional flavor boost.
