Miss Leeds Area’s Outstanding Teen Elaina Burt Ready to Compete at State Pageant
The Miss Leeds Area committee held a send-off party on Sunday, February 20 at the Livery Event Center for their Outstanding Teen who will be competing in the state pageant. Elaina Burt, a junior at Briarwood High School, will be representing the Leeds area at Thompson High School along with 38 other young ladies on Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6.
“Never have I ever been more thankful for my tribe! I’m officially “sent off” to State! The amount of love, support and encouragement I felt yesterday was truly such a blessing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every single person who has poured into this journey throughout these past 6 months. I could not feel more ready to TAKE ON STATE IN 11 DAYS! LET’S DO THIS!

It's Reading Across America Week
It's Read Across America Week and our Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Sandra McGuire, was caught reading to more than one class of students this week. This photo with two of her grandchildren was taken in Mrs. Lochridge's classroom. Sandra also read to Mrs. Isbell's class.

Mark your calendars for Bingo Night! Leeds Knights of Columbus Council 5597 announces a Charity Bingo night at Leeds Civic Center scheduled for Friday, March 4. Doors open at 5 pm and Bingo begins at 6 pm. This is a fundraiser for charity projects in the greater Leeds area.

Victoria Boyce teaches weekly acting classes at Leeds Theater and Arts Center on Tuesdays. Spring theme is Shakespeare, with showcase on April 29-30. Call 205-285-7635 to reserve your spot in class. Students 7-19 years old will learn how to read and perform Shakespeare’s comedies and tragedies along with how to perform a monologue and how to sword fight, all in a family friendly environment. Disney's Moana Jr | Oak & Ivy Theatre
Leeds High School’s Oak & Ivy Theatre is in the pre-production phase for Disney's Moana, Jr. at the moment. Performances are March 10, 11, 12, 14 at 7 PM. It includes students from the entire Leeds City Schools District - grades Pre-K through 12th. The high school band will perform a pre-show of island music themed around Moana.

Leeds Area Chamber Corporate Ambassadors Meeting March 16
Corporate Ambassadors for the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce meet at Noon on the third Wednesday of each month. This month's meeting will be held at Leeds First United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Lunch is $10 and an RSVP is required.
In addition to covering Chamber business and assignments at each meeting, business building information is shared and each attendee is given a few moments to share information about themselves and their company.
