Creek Bank Festival and Car Show This Weekend!
Come out and Join us this weekend! Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce has an exciting weekend planned that packs plenty of fun for you and the kiddos with the 28th Annual Creek Bank Festival at Leeds Memorial Park this Saturday, May 27 (rescheduled from last week). Stage entertainment will include Lennox Poe, Evan Riley, Erica Ryleigh, Kutzu, Eric Watters, Avery Ford, and Elvis Tribute Artist, Terry Padgett. Plan to enjoy every minute with hula hoop contests, balloon artist, face painting with plenty of arts, crafts, specialty vendors from all over the southeast, food trucks, Cruising the Creek Bank Charity Car Show and much more! Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Presents Teacher of the Year Award
Meg Brantley was chosen as the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year at the May Chamber Luncheon. Leeds City School Superintendent and Chamber Board Member presented the award. Here are excerpts from letters submitted for Mrs. Brantley's nomination:
"Mrs. Brantley is an excellent teacher to her students and exemplifies excellent in treating all with equality and meets their needs where they are academically. She is a kind-hearted and knowledgeable co-worker and always willing to share her teaching experience with others. She never backs away from anything and accepts changes and challenges with confidence."
"Mrs. Brantley is a wonderful example of a wonderful teacher. She comes to school every day with a wonderful "can-do" attitude. Her students feel loved, important and capable. She lights up any room and is always there for her students and teachers."
"As a former student teacher, along with many others that Meg has mentored, she encouraged me and helped shape who I am today as a teacher. Meg always has a smile on her face and is passionate about what she does every day. Her students love coming to school each and every day. She is a team player and willing to help anyone with questions."
Mrs. Brantley has been a teacher in the Leeds City School system for 30 years. Congratulations, Mrs. Brantley, on your award and recognition!

Fundraiser for LHS Cheer & FCCLA
Stratford Real Estate, together with Scott A. Pellowski-State Farm Agent, Millennial Bank, and Barnes & Barnes Law Firm, P.C., covered the expenses of this spirit sign fundraiser for LHS Cheer & FCCLA.
What exactly does that mean? Every penny goes directly to these students to help with their supplies and travel expenses! And after only two days, 63 signs have been sold totaling $1,260 in funds!
They hope for a total sellout before the next school year even starts!

Mark Your Calendars for Leeds Downtown Summer Movie Nights
Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, Leeds Redevelopment Authority, along with Leeds Jane Culbreth Library will launch First Friday Outdoor Family Movie Nights again this year for the summer with three dates scheduled. The movie lineup will be: June 2 – Toy Story 4; July 7 – Beauty & the Beast; and August 4 – Minions: The Rise of GRU. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the concrete parking lot on the corner of Parkway Drive and 6th Street to enjoy these free outdoor community events.
Food trucks, including shaved ice, will be on-site, along with pre-movie yard games beginning at 6 p.m. The outdoor movie will begin around dusk which will be approximately 8 p.m.

Horse Highlight: Mazie is a 16-year-old rescue. After a dear friend rescued Mazie, whose full name is Amazing Grace, was a lesson horse before finding her way to be a lesson horse here at The Red Barn! Her favorite way to cool off is to take a dip in the pond. Mazie has a blue eye and a pink nose, so she has to wear a fly mask and sunscreen to protect her eyes and nose from the sun.
