Leeds Happenings this Week!
The Place to Go to Be in the Know
Check Out this Week's Leeds Happenings
We invite you to check out the scoop with all of the events, happenings, offerings and news snippets in this week's edition of Everyone Leeds.
This is such an exciting time of year with so many wonderful events! Senator Dan Roberts will be speaking at the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce lunch. Our annual Christmas Tree Lighting is tonight and it's going to be a fabulous time together. Leeds High School Band will perform. Food trucks begin around 5:00 pm so you can grab a bite to eat. Downtown retailers will have special offerings just prior or during the festivities so be sure to stop in and shop a little. The tree lighting is scheduled for 6:00 pm and then, of course, Selfies with Santa, so all the kiddos can tell Santa what they have on their wish list this year! You will NOT WANT TO MISS this!!!
We challenge you to meditate on what you are thankful for during the whole month of November. We have so much to be thankful for and should never take anything for granted. Remember to drop us a line and share a holiday tradition with us and as always...
Shop Leeds. Dine Leeds. Live Leeds. Entertain Leeds.
Many Gathered for Community Thanksgiving Service
Many gathered at Cedar Grove Baptist Church for a community Thanksgiving service. Eight area pastors participated in the service who spoke words of encouragement and thanksgiving. Special music included Cedar Grove's choir, praise team and a community choir made up of members of the different churches. It was a great time of thanksgiving and worship. The evening was topped off with a time of fellowship and homemade cookies.
Pastors L-R: Pastor Billy Abrams - Cedar Grove, Pastor Steven Weems - Leeds FBC, Pastor Chris Stallings - Leeds First United Methodist Church, Apostle C. Shaemun Webster - Tower of Prayer, The Reverend Monica Carlson - The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Pastor Morgan Jones - Mosiac Chapel, Pastor Zach Pratt - Valley View Baptist Church and Pastor Greg Moore - Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church. This school year, they will tour area companies to learn more about job opportunities here in the Leeds area, attend chamber luncheons, chamber and community events to serve and meet area business professionals. To view photos from this week's tour, visit the Chamber Facebook page. For more information about this leadership program, visit www.LeedsAreaChamber.com.
Knights of Columbus Leeds Council #5597 Holds Annual Veterans Day Event
The Knights of Columbus Leeds Council 5597 held their annual Veterans Day event at Leeds Memorial Park on Friday November 11th. A large group gathered at Noon and Father Vu, Knights of Columbus Council #5597 Chaplain, presided over the Event. On hand were representatives of the Leeds Police Department and Leeds Fire Department as well as several friends of The Knights. As part of the program in honor of and in memory of those who have served in the military, names were read aloud that had been submitted all during the year for recognition.
The Knights of Columbus Leeds Council #5597 is a faith-based, nonprofit, charitable organization with more than 75 members in Metro Leeds, dedicated to serving those in need. Their central objectives are charity, unity and patriotism. Charity includes time, talents and fiscal assistance. This group is open to men that are 18 years old and up. They meet monthly at Leeds Civic Center. Their local fundraisers to support their charity work include their Tootsie Roll Drive, annual Beach Giveaway and Bingo. Bingo is held twice a month on the first and third Fridays, unless otherwise specified, and plans are to resume in January.
