Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting was a Great Time of Community
Leeds Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting was a great time of community at the gazebo on the corner of 9th Street and Parkway Drive last Thursday, November 16. Festivities included a Leeds High School Band Performance ushering in the spirit of Christmas with beautiful Christmas Carols. Mayor David Miller shared a welcome and performed the ceremonial lighting of the tree. People enjoyed fellowship and food while Santa made his appearance to visit with each child. This event was sponsored by Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Leeds. Food Trucks included Chick-fil-A and Pazzo Big Slice. Casey Parsons Guild Mortgage provided delicious hot chocolate. The Wooden Anchor served Steve’s famous hot chocolate in their establishment while other local businesses hosted before and after festivities. Leeds Cruising for Toys
It was a great day in Leeds, Alabama at our 3rd Annual Cruising for Toys Charity Event. People and their cruisers lined Parkway Drive from 8th Street to 9th Street bringing toys and monetary donations for this charity event to benefit needy families with Christmas toys for their children through Leeds Outreach. Proceeds included donations of $1414 and hundreds of toys and bicycles. Shoppers were on the streets and Three Earred Rabbit served lots of meals to hungry folks. The Brotherhood was the car club that won the Best Club Participant award for bringing the most cars to this charity event. Paisley Prater held the winning ticket as the winner of the $500. Paisley was gracious to donate the money back to the cause. We would like to thank Chris & Christy McCombs with C & C Motor Company, Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Leeds, and all of our volunteers who made this event possible. THANK YOU!!! If you were not able to attend yesterday's event, there's still time to make a donation to Leeds Outreach. Leeds Arts Council is pleased to announce our summer camps for 2024! Our first camp is Annie Jr, led by Josh McDaniel, from June 3rd through June 16th. Our second camp will be Mean Girls Jr, led by Allie Piccou, from June 17 through June 30th. Registration links will be posted on the Leeds Arts Council website no later than December 1st. We are very excited about our camps and are looking forward to seeing our students in June!
