Leeds High School Football will Face Scottsboro in Playoffs Round 2 at Homer Smiles Field!

Last Friday night, at Homer Smiles Stadium, the LHS Greenwave faced off against Fairfield in their first game of the playoffs winning 39-13. The Green Wave had both huge offensive and defensive wins during the game with the Fairfield quarterback being sacked 4 times and Jeremiah Hunter ending with 155 passing yards and 4 Touchdowns alone. Hunter impressively averaged about 8.5 yards a carry. CJ Douglas, one of the team’s senior leaders states that “we knew they were a solid team whose abilities didn’t display their record going in, the coaches set up a great scheme for us to put certain guys in the best ability to succeed”. Douglas, being a key player himself, managed to block a punt in last week’s game. The boys definitely held nothing back against Fairfield and look forward to continuing their season going 10-0 into this week’s game against Scottsboro (7-4). Come out to support the Greenwave this Friday night!
Library Hosts My Story Town at Leeds Train Depot
Leeds Jane Culbreth Library held its third My Story Town event at Leeds Train Depot on Tuesday. Randy Ray of Leeds Historical Society taught the children, their parents and others attending about the train depot, the history of transportation and showed the children how trains are a big part of Leeds history. Annette McGuire, Library Director of Programs and events, provided the kids with their next My Story Town sticker to go in their passports to commemorate this event as well as coloring sheets and craft activities to reinforce the education provided by this experience. This event, held the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30 am, is open to all ages and everyone is encouraged to attend and learn more about Leeds, its history and build a sense of community. The December 13th event will be held at the Library’s North Pole! Enjoy cookies, crafts, music, story time with Mrs. Claus, and write a letter to Santa! We are glad to be hosting the Community Thanksgiving Service this year! It will be held in our sanctuary on Monday evening, Nov. 14th, from 6:30-7:45 pm and followed by a dessert reception in our Banquet Hall. The participating churches so far are FBC Leeds, Valley View Baptist, Little Rock Missionary Baptist, Leeds First United Methodist, Epiphany Episcopal, Mosaic Chapel and Tower of Prayer.
