Knights of Columbus Leeds Council 5597 Presents American Flags to Local Businesses
The Knights of Columbus Leeds Council 5597 is in the process of presenting American Flags to local businesses. These flags are presented in honor of and in memory of Veterans who are family members, friends, employees or management in the businesses where the flags are presented. The names of these Veterans are read in a short presentation of the flags. These Veterans' names are also read again on Veterans Day at Leeds Memorial Park and on Memorial Day.
This week, a flag presentation was made to Michelle Davis Dental by Past Grand Knight Bill Watkins and Deputy Grand Knight Andy Russo in honor of and memory of Daniel Koch - US Air Force, Daniel Vujnorich - US Navy, David Wawiernia - US Army, Terrell Nall - US Army and Frank L. Vance III - US Army. A flag presentation was also made to Ann's New Life Center in honor of and memory of Chris Schornak and Win Owens - US Navy, Earnest Easters - US Army, Neil Birchfield - US Navy, Thurman Hendrix - US Army, Eugene Birchfield - US Navy, Frank Phillips and Doug Phillips - US Army, Anthony Burnell and Patrick Burnell - US Air Force.

City of Leeds is Getting a New Mural!
The City of Leeds is excited to announce the plans for a beautiful mural to be installed on the wall of the concrete parking lot located at Parkway Drive and 8th Street across from Regions Bank and Leeds Jane Culbreth Library. Mayor Miller has been working on this project for several months with TA Services along with the cooperation from Leeds Redevelopment Authority to make this happen. TA Services is donating the mural to the City of Leeds and we look for the project to begin immediately.
There are only a few minor changes to what the final mural will look like.
- It will say “Welcome to” instead of “You are Welcome in”
- It will say “incorporated 1887” instead of “established 1877”
We truly appreciate the investment that TA Services has made and continues to make in the City of Leeds. Thank you to all who are making this possible!
Leeds Jane Culbreth Library Launches My Story Town
Tuesday, September 13 - 10:30 am | Leeds Jane Culbreth Library
The Leeds Jane Culbreth Library, Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, and Leeds Redevelopment Authority have joined together to provide a new way to guide and inform residents and visitors about the past and present of The City of Leeds.
Through visits to historic buildings, businesses, and city municipalities, every month throughout the year on the second Tuesday at 10:30 am, the community is invited to gather at selected locations. The launching of My Story Town will be at the Leeds Jane Culbreth Library. In October, the Leeds Fire Department will host followed by a meeting at the Leeds Historical Society in November.
My Story Town is partnering with Millennial Bank in Leeds for a Cookies with Santa and Mrs. Claus event in December.
Through the generosity of the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce and the Leeds Redevelopment Authority, children will receive a passport to bring with them each month to collect a commemorative sticker and a matching button to wear from each My Story Town location.
For more information about this and other library events and programs, please visit www.LeedsLibrary.com.
To RSVP for any My Story Town event, please utilize the online registration form or call the library at 205.699.5962.
