Celebrate an Extra Day This Year and Do Something Kind
The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in National Leap of Kindness Day in the City of Leeds this year on Leap Day, February 29, 2024. We invite local businesses, municipalities, organizations and individuals to join this kindness movement and get involved, donate your time, talent and treasure to help others including local charities, churches, non-profit organizations and to thank first responders, teachers, school bus drivers, Veterans and others in honor of this day.
- Choose Your Kindness Act or Project
- Complete your kindness project on February 29 or in honor of this kindness campaign
- Take pictures/video of your project and share on social media with hashtag #LeapOfKindnessDayLeeds2024
- Let us know what you are doing so we can give you a shout-out on our website and social media

- Leeds Senior Center - During February we will be participating in the City of Leeds “National Leap of Kindness Day.” The day is celebrated on February 29. Since we have an extra day, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate by doing something kind. Watch for more details.
- Kaylee Williams with Cricket Wireless is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day! She and her team have chosen Leeds Outreach as their kindness project. "Charity and donations! I love to have the opportunity to give back to communities and to give to families that are less fortunate than I am. It pains me to see families struggling to feed their families or children to not have the supplies they need to get a good education. Currently, I am running a children’s book drive with my company for the Leeds Public Library," shared Kaylee. Thank you Kaylee Williams and Cricket Wireless for your participation!!!
- Trussville Rotary Daybreak Club is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day." Their project is Leeds Outreach and they plan to collect and deliver their most needed items: trash bags, toilet paper, laundry detergent.
- Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day". The Board of Directors has chosen their kindness project to be: The Chamber will provide a Duty-Free Lunch on March 6, 2024 for Leeds Elementary School teachers.
- adr Business & Marketing Strategies is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day". This business will join efforts with Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce to provide a Duty-Free Lunch on March 6, 2024 for Leeds Elementary School teachers. adr is also collecting eyeglasses for Leeds Lions Club. If you have any old eyeglasses that you would like to donate, please contact Dona Bonnett at 256.345.3993 to arrange pickup or you can drop them off at the chamber office or in the night drop box outside the chamber office.
- LA Salon & Boutique is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day." This business is asking everyone to support small businesses in Leeds on Leap Day and will offer 25% off of all merchandise and one free 15-minute tan that day.
- Leeds Elementary School is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day". As a school, we are collecting donations for four different organizations. Each grade level is in charge of collecting for a different organization: Second Grade is doing a children's book drive for Woman's Literary Club. Third Grade is doing a diapers and wipes drive for Ann's New Life. Fourth grade is doing a food and hygienic items drive for Backpack Buddies. Fifth grade is doing a sensory bins drive for Leeds Public Library.
- Stratford Real Estate is participating in the City of Leeds "National Leap of Kindness Day". They are having Straight Mountain Catering cater lunch to the Leeds building services department employees.

We are SO grateful to the Leeds Alabama Police Department and Leeds Fire & Rescue for providing duty-free lunch to Leeds Elementary School teachers today! The kids are enjoying spending time with the firefighters and police officers while their teachers eat in the quiet PTO room. Thank you to these incredible servant leaders!
LHS Band Boosters News
The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce donated $500 to the Leeds High School Band Boosters for the band's upcoming Pearl Harbor trip. Casey Parsons Team - Guild Mortgage matched that donation with another $500 donation. Thank you, Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, Casey Wood Parsons and Megan Kirkland Graham for all you do for our community. We are so excited about our band students taking this trip to represent the City of Leeds, our City of Valor.

Leeds Historic Downtown Walking Tour 2024 Celebrating the City of Leeds in the Year 1940 - Walk the Story of Our Past - Explore Landmarks Celebrating People, Places & History of Leeds, Alabama
With approximately six weeks left in the planning and organizing process for the Leeds Downtown Walking Tour set for Saturday, April 13 with a rain date of April 27, Leeds Trails and Tours teams are in full swing. Actors and reenactors are being cast, wardrobes/costumes and props are being searched out, historic research is unbelievable and you are seeing more publicity on social media.
There will be approximately 30 historical stations with up to 80 actors in full costume portraying familiar people of Leeds who were here in 1940. There are a number of reenactor positions that still need to be filled and volunteers are still needed in various teams. If you have an interest in being a part of this exciting endeavor, please contact the team at leedstrailsandtours@gmail.com.
Randy Ray, LTAT's Committee Chairman, was the guest speaker at the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce meeting last week and he share alot more information about the upcoming tour, our sponsors and supporters, businesses that were in Leeds in 1940 and still here today and much more.
