City of Leeds Celebrates Grand Opening of New Pickleball Courts with Ribbon Cutting

The City of Leeds officially celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new pickleball facility today with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 980 Park Drive. Mayor David Miller, members of the Leeds City Council, Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Board Members, representatives from the Leeds Police and Fire Departments, and other city officials joined avid pickleball fans and community members to mark this exciting milestone.

The $1.7 million project features 12 regulation-size courts under a protective roof, professional-grade lighting for day and evening play, and top-quality amenities designed to accommodate the rapidly growing popularity of pickleball.

Mayor Miller expressed his enthusiasm during the ceremony:
“Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the nation, and today we proudly open a state-of-the-art facility that brings our community together. These courts are more than just a place to play – they represent Leeds’ ongoing commitment to expanding recreational opportunities and improving quality of life for all our residents.”

Following the ribbon cutting, attendees were invited to tour the facility and enjoy open play on the new courts. Many brought their paddles, and the sound of lively games quickly filled the new space.

The event underscored the City’s dedication to investing in recreation and wellness opportunities, while also creating a vibrant gathering spot for all ages. Leeds leaders hope this new venue will draw both local residents and visitors to the city, boosting community engagement and economic activity.
