Step Back in Time with Snoopy, Stories & the 1950s
Step Back in Time with “Snoopy, Stories & the 1950s” at the Leeds Library – A Month-long Celebration of Charles M. Schulz’s Legacy
This April, the Leeds Jane Culbreth Library is taking visitors on a nostalgic journey through the world of Peanuts with “Snoopy, Stories & the 1950s,” a free, month-long exhibit running from April 2 – 30. Designed for all ages, the experience blends art, history, imagination, and fun to celebrate the life and legacy of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz.
- The exhibit features: Hands-on activities including STEM projects, crafts, LEGO design challenges, coloring sheets, and comic strip tracing.
- A 1950s-inspired photo backdrop and Snoopy games perfect for families.
- A whimsical doghouse play zone and Snoopy sensory bin for little ones.
- A cartooning corner featuring comic-strip art by Tanna McGuire.
- A create-you-own-comic-station, where kids can let their imaginations soar.
To add to the excitement, the library is giving away themed prizes and small goodies for completing scavenger hunts throughout the month. In addition, the library will have a special visit from 3rd graders, a beloved tradition full of smiles and discovery.
Library staff are especially excited about how this project connects to the Leeds Trails & Tours Historic Walk on April 12, which spotlights the 1950s. “We’re tying it all together – history art, storytelling, and community says Annette, program coordinator. “This exhibit invites everyone to explore the past while celebrating the characters that have brought joy for generations.”
And yes – Snoopy will be there in spirit, welcoming visitors through games, art, and fun quotes. “Explore the past with me & my friends,” he says in the library’s colorful poster.
