February is Alabama Career Technical Education Month
Last Thursday in celebration of Alabama Career Technical Education Month at the monthly Luncheon for Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce, Shannon Logan and Russ Cofield spoke about the growth of CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs and craft training in Leeds High School. Shannon Logan is the health sciences teacher at LHS, and is also the sponsor for HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Leeds High School offers classes like Foundations of Health, Human Body Structures, Anatomy, and PCT (Patient Care Tech) training and certification. PCT certification allows for a student to get a job immediately after high school. PCTs check blood pressure, heart rate, monitor food intake, and a variety of other skills that they all learn in the classroom. Read full article

Everyone Leeds Editor, Dona Bonnett, presented Everyone Leeds bookmarks to Leeds Jane Culbreth Library and The Grove School in celebration of Read Across America Week. Bookmarks were provided by Leeds Redevelopment Authority for library patrons and every student and teacher at The Grove School. WANTED: DADDIES & DAUGHTERS to mosey on over to the 2nd Annual Daddy-Daughter Western Party hosted by the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce. Bring a dad, grandfather, uncle or other special male guest! Saturday, March 18 from 6-8p at The Livery Event Center and The Historic Train Depot located in historic downtown Leeds at 8334-8335 Thornton Avenue.
Plenty of fun is planned with line dancing, face painting, balloon artist, refreshments, photo booth for selfies and more!

Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting vendors for an exciting weekend that packs plenty of fun for you and the kiddos with the 28th Annual Creek Bank Festival at Leeds Memorial Park, Saturday, May 20th. Stage entertainment will include Lennox Poe, Evan Riley, Erica Ryleigh, Kutzu, Eric Watters and Elvis Tribute Artist, Terry Padgett. Plan to enjoy every minute with hula hoop contests, balloon artist, face painting, arts, crafts, specialty vendors from all over the southeast, food trucks, Cruising the Creek Bank Charity Car Show and much more!
